Kindergarten - Creative Arts

Innovation, self-expression, creativity, and examination – The concepts gained and practiced in our creative arts curriculum support the observation and recording skills used in our natural science and other curricula areas.

Visual Arts – Further expanding on the visual principles laid down in earlier years, our kindergarteners begin to use and manipulate these concepts to produce original work.  Figure drawing, symmetry, and creating a sense of dimension are the aspects of the MCC Drawing curriculum we build into our kindergarteners set of skills.  Our art room provides children with the freedom to independently explore and to create with a wide variety of materials along with accommodating large collaborative group projects.

Performing Arts – With their increased awareness of social interplay, we focus on interpreting and conveying emotion through acting out stories or moving to music.  Preparing and performing for an audience builds individual confidence and group unity.  In conjunction with the pre-kindergarten program, parents are invited to attend end of the day performances showcasing various new skills throughout the year.
